We’re very pleased to announce a new upgrade to the VR Simulator. As of February 4th, 2017 we’ve released our VR Simulator RELEASE CANDIDATE-1.0.
This version brings with it a number of (relatively minor) changes and bug fixes:
- Stability Matrix is now included in our Documentation. This table shows the results of our stability tests against different combinations of Unity, SteamVR, and Oculus Utilities for Unity.
- Running VR Simulator with Oculus Rift. With newer versions of the Oculus API (around v.1.9), if the VR Simulator was activated with an Oculus Rift connected to the PC the HMD would have been misidentified as a SteamVR HMD and cause a variety of errors. This misidentification has now been fixed.
- Deprecated Unity Code Removed. As of Unity v.5.5.0f3, some code used in the VR Simulator’s Play Area Support had been deprecated. This would generate warnings in Unity v.5.5.0f3 and higher. We have modified the code to use the updated Unity API when running in Unity v5.5.0f3 or higher, which means that newer versions of Unity will no longer generate these warnings.
